House Committees

Democrats made slight gains in the House of Representatives, picking up a net gain of 6 seats as of November 13, reducing the Republican majority from 246 to 239 seats. The Republicans, keeping control of the House, will see new chairs heading various committees due to the party’s self-imposed 6-year term limit for chairmen that the conference instituted in 1994. The following committees will see a new chair or ranking member in the 115th Congress, with decisions being made by GOP/Democrat leaders in late November and early December.
